There are NO public areas in Virginia in which it is legal to be nude. If you want, you can try White Tail Park in Ivor, Va, a landed nudist resort. You can check out their web page @ www.white-tail-park.com

Nudity really isn't illegal in Va. There are laws against indecent exposure and causing a disturbence. Some folks think being nude is indecent. For any arrest to stick, they have to prove that you were doing something indecent. However, it's a bummer to be arrested if someone complains.
If it's a natural area mostly away from people, I don't think anyone will mind your going nude if you're the first or only one there.
I go nude all over my Va property but have tolerant neighbors.

I think the law has changed. Here's the site giving excerpts: http://home.att.net/~saran/list.htm
Here's the except: 18.2-387, Indecent exposure. Every person who intentionally makes an obscene display or exposure of his person, or the private parts thereof, in any public place, or in any place where others are present, or procures another to so expose himself, shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor. No person shall be deemed to be in violation of this section for breastfeeding a child in any public place or any place where others are present.
Anyone have information about when this change came into being and why we weren't informed by the NAC?

You know what??
Every state has some kind of law against indecent exposure. Some states and some locales push it more. The more you give the police a hard time, the more they will give you a hard time. But if you want to be safe, don't risk it in public.

Yes, they all have laws against indecent exposure but the definition of indecent varies quite a bit.
For instance here in Florida the law states that indecent is nude but a court case has modified that so that you have to do something lewd to meet that definition. Mere nudity no longer qualifies.

You can look up the state laws on the Naturist Society's website at
http://www.nef.oshkosh.net/Toni_Egbe...t_library.html
But you will need to look up local law on your own. It's not hard to do, just Google it.

I would not tempt the nudity laws in Virginia! Even if there were no nudity laws, the way the system works here in Va. the courts would find a way to turn you in to somehing you're not. Just in Va Beach alone, a woman can't even wear a thong or show too much breast without getting a citation. Unfortunately, this mentality seems to run throughout Va. Unless you're on private propert like Ralph is, I'd suggesst going to WTP like Walt suggested. IMO, it's just to risky, considering the consequences. Yes Virginia, we're a sad state!

(b) ``Nudity'' means the showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, or buttocks with less than a fully opaque covering, the showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering of any part of the nipple, or the showing of covered male genitals in a discernibly turgid state.
