I can't see either of them protecting nudity, but Trump's courting of Evangelicals makes me believe that he would openly oppose any measure that would grant us more freedom.

Trump is about less government so more freedom, but Biden actually does skinny-dip so I think Biden is the choice.

“Agents say that, whether at the vice president’s residence or at his home in Delaware, Biden has a habit of swimming in his pool nude,”

A reporter looks inside the private lives of politicians, as told by their Secret Service agents.

Who in the federal government in the past decades have done anything positive or negative regarding laws to move the needle on nudism? Nobody. This election will not change that.In order to protect or further nudist issues, you need to elect far more reps and senators who are actively pro-nudism.

While I don't expect any dramatic action from a Biden administration such as mandating nude areas at national seashores, I do think there is great symbolic importance in having a president who is an acknowledged skinny dipper. It would help normalize the idea that being nude around others is not shameful or sinful.

I actually think the most benefit could be gained from having positive portrayals of social nudity on TV and in the movies. This is essentially how the public perception of gay rights and gay marriage was changed. To some extent, this is already happening. Implied nudity has been featured on many shows from Seinfeld to the Simpsons.

All three branches of government would have to favor nudity as normal before much change could be achieved. Laws could be changed which the president would have to sign, but the courts would have more of an impact if they started ruling with more of a relaxed attitude. Many of our nude beaches actually violate the law but enforcement looks the other way. Where top freedom is allowed, law enforcement will cite women without tops for creating a public disturbance. There was a story not too long ago about a home owner in Florida where it is legal to be nude who was harassed by neighbors when he exercised that right. Fortunately for him the police sided with the law. If the law allows nudity, it still might not become commonplace until enough people have an attitude change.

About the only things the federal government could do would be to allow nudity on public lands such as beaches and deny states the jurisdiction to arrest and bring to trial. As for having a president as a skinny dipper, it would be better to tout popular celebs rather than someone that roughly half the country will dislike.

"Laws could be changed which the president would have to sign, but the courts would have more of an impact if they started ruling with more of a relaxed attitude."

nudey, this is far better done on the state level. I also have to ask if there are federal laws against public nudity (not counting military conduct on military bases). State laws are where we need to focus and it is far easier to deal with representatives who have a smaller constituency.

The most likely route for public nudity to be legalized is through action by the courts, but public sentiment would need to be behind it in order for the courts to have courage to act. This is exactly what happened in the case of same-sex marriage. The courts were behind changes in law that allowed nudist publications - and subsequently porn magazines - to be sent through the mail. The courts have also been behind changes in law that allow women to be topless in public in some states. New York is a notable example. One important thing that a Biden administration would bring is judges that are less conservative.

Perhaps the the efforts should be made in our local jurisdictions. Since many of our state, county, and local judges are elected, this is where the movement for accepted nudity should start. While they campaign for the office, questions on their view of simple nudity should be made.

There is one positive thing for nudism about the Trump presidency. That is his wife Melania. When she was working as a model, she was not ashamed to be photographed nude. This was not held against her husband during the election. Not even those on the religious right complained. There was a lot of good will toward Melania initially. Those who didn't like her husband initially assumed she was just along for the ride. During protests against her husband, people held signs that read, "Melania, blink twice if you need help." That all changed when she wore the "I really don't care. Do u?" jacket while on her way to visit detention centers for migrant children.
