• Dr. Phil: Spouse Too Open With Nudity Around Your Children?

Dr. Phil is looking for guest for his show:

Spouse Too Open With Nudity Around Your Children?

Do you think it's inappropriate that your spouse showers with your child?

Is your husband/wife always walking around the house naked in front of your children and you hate it?

Do you think your child is now too old to see either of you walking around the house without clothes on?

Is your spouse taking being in the buff too far?

It would appear that Dr. Phil considers it a given that there is a certain age when we would all agree that it is no longer appropriate for parents to be nude in front of their children. It would be nice if the good Dr. would balance this assumption with a nudist family who will represent the benefits of being nude with their kids at any age. I wonder if we could convince him that this would be a good idea, and if someone would volunteer to take on that role on his show.

I agree with you. If Dr. Phil is going to do a show on this topic, he should have someone to give the counter opinion. Since I am single and have no children, I couldn't be the one to do it. But both sides of the debate should always be represented.

I'm in Australia, and can't offer to participate.
It seems to me that Dr Phil has simply posed a series of related questions, and is simply asking for a response. He has not said what kind of response he would either expect, or be in agreement with.
I have had a good look at the website, and it seems to me that Dr Phil gives good, balanced advice, on a variety of health, relationship and sexual matters.
It would certainly be appropriate to have at least one naturist couple, [who have children], to be there, to respond in a rational manner.
Two topics about which we could expect a positive response from a well-informed health professional, could be as follows:
1, The reluctance of some people, who suffer from extreme body embarrassment, to seek the timely intervention of medical tests, or treatment, when they may have a serious, even life-threatening, condition.
2, Sexual problems stemming from body embarrassment, due to an "over-modest" upbringing.
This show could turn out to be a wonderful opportunity to showcase some of the solid, easily understood, advantages of a healthy nudist lifestyle, and an opportunity for some of the more radical of our detractors, [if there are any there], to make themselves look stupid.

I have three children and I agree 100%. Too many times people try to talk about the down side. I see many reasons why children should see non-sexual nudity...but nobody talks about that on T.V

Why do you all seem to be anticipating the worst?
Do you know something about Dr Phil that I don't know?

Point well taken, Rex. Perhaps I came on a little stronger than I should have. However, as you also said:

This is exactly what we would like to see, but it will happen only if a pro-nudist position is represented, which is what I was trying to encourage. I was just concerned from the questions being addressed that it looked like there were some anti-nudist (or at least "traditional") assuptions behind them which would lead to an anti-nudist spin. Perhaps I was wrong.

My only child is my puppy. He is not bothered by my nudity and I encourage him to be nude as much as possible too On a sadder note, he injured himself recently, he has a puncture wound on one of his femoral muscles...everyone please pray for him to make a speedy recovery. He has to wear a cone on his head until it's healed

I doubt Dr.Phil will adopt a pro-nudist attitude. He may remain neutral on the issue, simply trying to resolve the conflict between these parents, but Dr.Phil is far too traditional and conservative (as the majority of his audience is as well) to approach nudism with any strong positive statements.

Being a Dr. Phil fan, I will make a stand in his defense...meaning, that it really depends on when nudity is introduced into the family.

If nudity is intoduced early on when the children are very young (preschool), and both parents are in agreement with this lifestyle, that is one thing,

but,

On the other hand if nudity is introduced later on when the children are in the preteen/teen stage that is another...and one of the parents are totally oposed to this lifestyle, that is another...and I do see some problems that could concievable arise from intoducing nudity into the family...not that I am opposed to nudity in families, I am not, it is just that there is a time and place for introducing different activities...and nudity is one of those...

Hi,I don't have any children but I have a bunny and he is naked all the time and so am I.

I don't see any thing wrong with it at all.

I wasn't there for the early years of my daughters life. She was raised exclusively by her mother who has no inkling about this lifestyle. Now 9, my daughter shows the ramifications of those beliefs.

To balance this, I do my best to expose her to the beauty of our life. I have no problem showering with the door open nor changing in front of her. She has her hangups but they are dwindling over the course of time.

As for family showering together, what's the difference? The line between sexual and nudism is totally obvious. Anyone who is involved in this lifestyle for any length of time will know the difference. Showering with a teen of the opposite sex can be completely innocent and pure.

I wish I could agree with you regarding this one, but with my knowledge of the court system, I am afraid your but would be hung out to dry in the grey bar motel if someone caught wind of it...sadly this could be considered a form of child molesting if someone suddenly decided they didn't approve of your actions.
