A day ago I was sleeping nude, when my mom tried to open my door (which was locked), so I only had time to put on my sleepbottoms, she asked me why I was shirtless, I just said I was hot and she shrugged it off. Has anyone ever been caught or nearly caught before?

Sleepwear top and bottom in the summer months in Illinois?
Either your house is air-conditioned to very cool or your mother is hanging on to childhood requirements of wearing nightwear or be coverer neck to ankles. After all you’re within two years of being an adult and making your own decisions as to what to wear or how to be comfortable.
What would she have said if you just said "I was warm and just felt like being naked" after all the door was locked. You could have said just a minute till I get something on.
You say "Almost caught". Does this mean your mother considers anything naked or unclothed as being sexual or naughty? What if in this same circumstance it was your father who tried to enter your locked room? Who he care if you had no bottoms on or were naked in your locked room?
From previous posts I understand that in today’s large multi-bedroom/bathroom homes the younger generation are behind locked doors, and have private showers and bathrooms with locked doors, and thus never seen by anyone even their friends if over as they have multiple locked doors as security towels to prevent such occurrences from happening.
No wonder the younger generation is weird around public rest rooms, locker rooms, and changing areas. They will have a rude awakening if they ever join the military service, or become part of a group or facility that only has communal bathroom, changing, showers, bath, spa or steam room facilities.
When I was a kid we had a 3 bedroom house one of which I shared with my brother, and had a single bathroom for 6 people who lived in the home. The original bathroom door with crystal glass door knobs had a small skeleton type key that was removable or useable from either side. My mother panicked at the thought of small kids being locked in [happened a couple of times] so the key was removed and hidden, and after us kids were caught peeking through the key hole [as kids naturally do] something opaque was inserted into the keyhole. LOL
So it was common rule if the door was shut and one could hear someone was taking a bath or shower and needed to use the toilet, they would knock or ask if it was ok if they did prior to opening or entering the single bathroom.

Most parents wouldn’t have said anything only admired your innocent relaxed and natural attitude of napping au natural on top of the bed.
By chance if you happen to have had tumlence or an erection which is more common than not while sleeping, they would have just smiled and thought to them selves "Well look at our boy, he is so relaxed and au natural, and everything seems to be normal in that department" and then you were covered without being disturbed.
Well "Tally" you didn't even have to mention to them you like to be nude. You did it in your sleep! Now saying I'm going skinny dipping or to the nude beach [or club/resort when you can] won’t surprise them since you have broken the ice in your sleep without saying a word.
See being natural is the easiest way to show you like of being natural and nude, instead stewing, fretting, and worrying how your going to tell your parents for years when they probably already know it.
“Nude is not Rude, It’s perfectly natural and free as you were born.”
Thanks for you comment and experience – Now get naked again they will understand even if caught naturally again!

I think were saying the same thing.
If the parents were prudish, Im sure "tallynudistII" would have heard something.
Don't you think it's just a parents way of saying we wondered if you were in and covered him without disturbing.
I doubt if "Tally" would have layed down to nap nude if he was unconfortable or thought being nude was improper, disgrace, or would loose the respect of others.
After all, it's his bedroom with a shut door.

I sleep nude every night and have done so for 40 years. Was caught several times in the military on surprise inspections to the barraks (had seperate rooms). But nothing came of it other than a few rude comments.
My step father walks about the house nude but is only him and my mother there. I don't think he would be comfortable with anyother person there and that is fine. He enjoyes nudity in his own way.

lately i've been experimenting a bit with my friends, staying naked when i know they are planning to stop by my house. tried it a couple weeks ago with a friend from the prison ministry (!); per my instruction he knocked and then let himself in and found me sitting in my living room in my birthday suit. i offered a weak apology which turned out to be unnecessary -- he was totally cool and admitted that he sometimes hangs out nude at home.
on another occasion, a different friend arrived for supper at my house just as i got out of the shower, so i decided to answer the door nude. not only was he okay with that, he was okay with me remaining naked the whole time he was here -- so i cooked in the nude, we ate supper with me in the nude, and watched a movie, me still nude.
i also liked what you said about how having so much privacy, locked doors, bathrooms of their own, etc., has made the younger generation gymnophobic; i'd never thought of that but it makes a lot of sense.

It's nice to have cool friends like that!

I think NakedGary has a good point about how the modern house and it's size and all those extra bathrooms have sort of reduced the amount of normal family nudity.
I saw another story on the web by a young mother basically stating the fact that she is nude most of the time and not ashamed in front of her family. Something along the lines of being busy changing diapers having to rush to get ready for work and get the kids ready laundry being an issue etc. So she laid it out there asking her audience to make a comment is this weird of me being naked most of the time in front of my kids is there a cut off age and so forth. Well, I thought she would get slammed but 99% of the comments were positive and the other mostly women were like yeah I do it too it is so much more relaxing easier to get ready not worried about my kids seeing me but then they did have their own limits like certain ages and somehow young boys seeing mom not a big deal but beyond a certain age the young females should not see daddy naked etc. But I guess my point is the readers of that article impressed me in how much more laid back they were than I thought they would be. In the end it seems family nudity is still alive and well, I know in my house it is and also in my daughters house too. So to anyone thinking of getting naked I say just do it you are not as outrageous as you may imagine. Most of that anti nudity stuff is BS just brainwashing that the media makes a big deal out of.
P.S. The article I was refering to was "Parenting in the Nude," in the July 25th edition of the San Francisco Chronicle, author was Kelly Mills. It was quite good.
