  • Help needed starting a club

Ive had a online nudist club for more than a year that now has 75 members and from what I can tell most of them are local people, so now I want to actually have a meeting but its been hard trying to get a hold of a lot of these members. I know that there are some who are willing to meet because Ive already have met a handful of them in clothed and nudist enviorments. I need some fresh Ideas on how to get this thing going because I have none. I know there is a place for a nudist club here in Fresno where I live.
    Thanks bye

Get together the ones whom you have met and start planning some get-togethers. I, too, have an online group and am hoping to turn it into a non-landed club.

It may start small, but it would be worth it to get real-life interest started.

You may also want to get into contact with the AANR ( www.aanr.com ). They can assist you in getting a club off the ground and will even put you into touch with someone who can be a kind of an online mentor. If you email me off list, I can give you her email (or give her your addy).

Good luck. We can never have too many nudist clubs.

Phillip: Send a message to Skippy at Ontario Roaming Bares (http://www.come.to/orb_toronto).

I believe that he has prepared some material on how to start a non-landed club.

Phillip D.: Sounds like a great idea. I live about 35 miles, but I would only make any meetings on the weekends. Send me a private message if you ever plan on having any sort of meeting. Hopefully, it will be in a nude environment, and it would be a "pot luck". This is one way of trying to get people together, with food and drinks (sodas, coffee, beer, etc.)

Are there any places available in Fresno where a hall or a meeting room could be rented for an event, or are you planning on having this at someones house? Hopefully at someones house, where it would be more homey, but in any case, a meeting room would suffice just as well.

          Great idea. Keep in touch.

            Hello Phillip D,

I'm 20 miles south of Fresno. I think a non-landed club would be a great idea for this area. Looking at the postings, there seem to be a few nudists in the central CA area. NudeM has some good ideas. Keep us informed...

Check out Naturally California - it's a non-landed club in the San Diego area. Perhaps the founder (Brian) can give you advice>

Non landed clubs can work out really great. The best ones depend on active member participation and keeping things pretty relaxed and laid back. Pot luck meetings in members homes to plan trips to nearby hotsprings or nude beaches or nudist resorts are good. Member participation is the key then just let your imagination guide you. Oh a monthly news letter is a good idea to. You could do it on email instead of paper to cut down on the cost.

When I had my singles club I asked AANR and TNS to send me the paperwork to become an affiliated club. AANR sent me a two inches thick package full of regulations, rules, and even a test. I would have to pay $100 and come up with a set number of members within a certain timeframe (more $ for AANR). TNS sent me a few pages with really few requirements and it was totally free. They were very helpful with answering questions too. Guess who I went with?

Others have responded with some pretty good advice.

I would contact The Naturist Society and also AANR.

The Naturist Society does a great job of catering to new non-landed groups. Both they and/or AANR can give you some good organizational advice.

Some individuals will suggest forming selling stock, etc., but that's jumping the gun.

Before doing ANYTHING -- I would check the AANR and TNS pages to see if there are groups already in the Fresno/Visalia area. I didn't find any, but I'm not all that familiar with geography of California.

To get organized -- probably the best way is to do so is to start small. If you already have five-six people who are interested in organizing, have a coffee clatch or go out for a couple of drinks and start your planning.

If you have a small core group who is interested in working at things. you should plan an informal get-together before it becomes a formal, organized group. But here are some pointers -

                        1) You will need volunteers. One guy/gal can't and shouldn't do it alone. Otherwise, it becomes "Bill's group" or "Ann's group" , and when "Bill" or "Ann" no longer want to run the club, or are unable to do so for whatever reason arises, the group can die out.

                        2) Starting small, perhaps meeting in a non-nude environment and then planning a house party, is probably a good way to get started. You may find that you need not "organize" at all. There are many social circles around that do not have an organized structure.

The right reasons for forming a club or group =

                        - There is no club or group at all in the area

                        - The club/groups in the area are restrictive (they don't admit singles, for example) or too liberal (the members of the club might engage in activities that some might not find likeable)

                        The WRONG reasons =

                        - The local club will not admit singles, so if we form a group, we will manage to bust down that club's doors. Get serious, if they're not going to admit you as an individual, they're not going to admit 30 or 50 of you as a group.

                        - There is a local group, but we want to form our own splinter group. If you're a member of a club, you can ALWAYS form your own clique within it or away from it without disrupting the group.

I have seen AANR-sponsored workshops for starting a nudist club advertisied in the Bulletin previously. These workshops are hosted at a club and include setting up a network, getting financing, legalities, etc. Could be really useful for you.

Not sure if there are plans now to have another seminar, but would be worth a call to the AANR. Pat (ext. 223) has been helpful for me in other respects, and she is very knowledgeable. I'm sure she could give you the 411 on this

I am glad to have found this thread. I live in a fairly remote area far from major centres like Edmonton and Vancouver. There is a small group of people here starting the move to have a non-landed club. One couple is linked to several others and there seems to be a small bunch who are interested in gathering together.

We have talked about putting a small article in a local paper and putting a reference to the website "Nude Canadian" for further information. Has anyone done something like this? The website has options for e-mail accounts so there can be some anonymity and there is someone from away who has agreed to contribute the article. I think this person is connected to the site.

Anyway, the plans for now are to have a small gathering at the home of the couple who knows the most people and go from there.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. Why not do both? Giving money to the cause is always good. Otherwise it is just taxing them.
