  • Another etiquette Question

I am making plans to take my wife to a clothing optional resort very soon.

In our discussions, I told her that she could remain clothed except if she wanted to use the hot tub or pool. I explained that it is a common rule at all C/O resorts.

She asked me why that is, and I don't have a good answer. So, what is the reason that it is required to be nude in the pool or spa? I have never seen an explaination about that on any of the resort sites.

    Thanks,
    JRo

The main reason is because as a nudist venue the management or membership feels a need to keep the park from becoming an ordinary campground where nudists, particularly new nudists, wouldn't feel free to be nude. Since most parks today are clothing optional outside of water there are already a few parks where you seldom see nudity.

These resorts are for nudists, most offer c/o status for practical (weather) reasons and for the benefit of reluctant family members and nervous newcomers, but they feel a need to do something to preserve their nudist character.

It is also true that pools and hottubs stay much cleaner when no clothing goes into them. Cloth, even clean, carries a huge amount of dirt, dust and other matter on them into the water, not to mention loose fibers that eventually clog filters.

Mark is correct, we have a hottub and the water stays much cleaner and balanced if we don't wear suits, or we have one set for the hottub, and one set for public. As far as etiquete, don't sweat it, the places and events we have been to have been just great. I undress at the car and stay naked as long as I can. My wife undresses at the sunning lawn or pool. Most people wear a cover-up around if it is not at the pool or a sports event. She just bought a mesh swim cover-up that lets her be naked, and protected from the sun etc. Nudists are the most fun and accepting people we have met. If she's not comfortable geting naked yet, after a couple events, it is so natural.
