• To Wear or not to Wear...

I looked all around this site and get what I can't find...anyone??? Peoples opinions on just what they want out of a nudist movement. Do they want people to be naked all the time? Do they want people to have more clothing optional choices but still be restricted only to a place that is clothing optional? Do they want people to be able to make the choice whether or not they want to do things nude? What are you guys looking to accomplish?

Whats my opinion?........I'm working on it... The fact is that I'm not sure? This boy's still got a lot to learn.

One last thing... I hear a great deal of "would the world be better if everyone was nude" people always seem to say yes. Dan Millman, an EXCELLENT AUTHOR, said "there is only one light but there are many lamps". Remember that just because we have found happiness in nudity (or some of us are still pending to find happiness in nudity ::stares out at the cold wheather: does not mean that all will. Each has there own path!

I am VERY MUCH looking forward to hearing peoples opinions about this. Please post... for the children (do you like my shameless attempt at getting people to post)

I certainly don't want people to be naked all the time. Unlike some, I like clothes (particularly when it gets cold!) and also like the ways that they can help you make an individual statement.

I also don't believe the world would be a better place if everyone was naked. I don't really think that there is much based purely on clothes that contributes to the problems with the world - and what there is would probably be based on an increase in problems based on prejudices about body shape and appearance.

In my view the best line for the nudist movement to take is pushing for acceptance of a right for people to be naked in public. Ideally, nudism should be a choice available for everyone everywhere if they so desire (except for safety reasons eg in dangerous industrial situations) but at the least, increases in availability and acceptance of clothing-optional public spaces would be good.

I agree with TONS of what you said. People blow the whole people would be even and no one would feel they had to wear the right clothes blah blah. Yeah I was called horrible names everyday in highschool but it had nothing to do with fashion. They just hated me ::laughs:: Seriously I think nudism seems to solve alot of problems but I think we need to realize that lots of clothes look cool! :-)

I too enjoy wearing clothes at times, and other times I like to wear my favorite outfit...my birthday suit

Shoes and socks are another item of neccessity in my wardrobe, but mostly for protection from whatever I may be doing, like walking or whatever the need for wearing them.

I would like for nudity to be more widely acceptable. I don't really have any idea where would be a good place to "draw the line" as far as nudity in public places (Iknow there are those who would compleatly freak being around nude people all the time).

I would like for it to be acceptable for one to be nude anytime/anywhere on their own property, reguardless of who may be able to see you.

Any beach/seashore should be clothing optional. (it's not like today's swim suits cover that much anyway)

            Public parks and state forests.

During the summertime, during my leisure, if I have to go to town, I will wear loose fitting nylon shorts, without any underwear. This is as close to being naked as I can get that is legal. The shorts are very light, and when there is a slight breeze, the feeling is great. Sometimes, I have to check to see if they are still on, it feels that natural.

Sure, I have to wear clothes while performing other functions, but I try to be as nude as possible while in town during my leisure times. While at home, I'm usually nude all of the time.

I would like us all to have the right to be nude in public, subject to health and safety concerns and to the rights of owners of private property.

Social pressure can be applied to keep people from being nude when inappropriate. (Do you ever see anyone topfree in church?)

Quoting someone else from these forums, I believe that nudity should be a fashion choice.

YES! In fact I have been at worship services at nudist resorts where many of the people were nude.

Rights of owners of private property? As long as I'm not their property they shouldn't have the right to decide how or if I dress. They have the right to look or not.

We are all forced to make compromises, but that doesn't mean it is right. Currently our right to be nude where we please is compromised almost to extinction.

I'd have to agree with Mark on that one. Property owners should have the right to dictate actions on thier property, but not on my property, just because they can "see" my yard. Personally, I think "clothing optional" should be an accepted standard for all public areas, then businesses and government offices and other property owners could have dress codes for employees, business patrons, etc. After all, the Firemen still need to be dressed appropriately, and I want the surgeon wearing sterile scrubs! Nudity should be an available fashion option, just as jeans or suits. I really think that it will happen someday, but probably not in my lifetime.

I think that is the problem with the "nudist movement", that there is not a unified voice. The nudists don't know what they want. Like it has been said, some want world peace, some want more public places, some want body acceptance, some want "one with nature", & some want to just to see more naked people. Some people associate nudism with political reasons, some for religious reasons, and even some for philosohical reasons. Some say happiness is found by doing "nudism" privately and some say it is found only doing it socially with others. And all these different reasons are considered legitmate by some sect of the entire population of "nudist movement". This confusion brings discredit upon the "movement" from outsiders and the typical, boring citizen. I think if I had to vote on a unified voice for the "nudist environment" I would vote for accepting the naked body as a healthy and holy creation of God, that can be enjoyed in private and social arenas in the appropriate public areas. If the "nudist movement" wanted something, I would want more public acceptance.
