I have a tendency to be a people watcher and whenever I'm at a nude beach my attention always seems to be grabbed by first-timers. It's often quite funny to see the 'pattern of response' that they go through. When I lived close to Wreck Beach in Vanouver, I can recall a cyclist come down to the beach with his bike in tow. It was clear it was his first time. It took him forever to get up the courage bare all. First it was his T-shirt and then after a long nervous-looking sit on a log, he finally slipped the shorts off and settled in. Secretly I found myself betting on whether he'd chicken out or not and I give him a telepathic "THAT'S IT" when he finally got naked.

The second time to observe this was in Brighton England on the very expansive beach there. A couple of guys came down to the beach. One was very clearly more interested than his mate was. They had to jump down to the beach from the parking lot which was backed by a wall. The one did and almost convinced his friend to join him but in the end the friend chickened out and after a disappointed look over the beach, he went too.

I'm not sure if women are different or not on this. To be honest I've seen more men go through the very obvious signs of hesitation rather than women.

Has or does anybody else taken not of the new ones?

I noticed some teenagers, all boys except for one girl. The boys quickly undressed and ran and jumped into the water. The girl took a long time getting out of her clothes and into the water, and I found it rather humorous. She tried so hard to undress while covering herself with a towel. Once undressed she wore the towel to the edge of the water (this is outdoors at the lagoon at Turtle Lake Resort), and finally tossed away the towel and quickly jumped into the water.

I thought that despite her obvious reluctance and embarrassment at being seen nude, she was willing to do it anyway. It must have taken a lot of nerve for her since she was very self-conscious.

at haulover, i noticed three early twenty year old guys come to the beach. they all sat down on seperate towels with their shorts on and sunned for a while checking out the scene. then they got up to go in the water, and this was all one of them needed to get naked. they all went into the water, one naked, two clothed. they stayed like that until we left before them several hours later...

At Turtle Lake last summer, I once saw a group of 3 teenage girls there. They wore bikinis or were otherwise clothed when out of the water. In the pool or the pond, they were nude (club rules). When going from pool to bathroom or to towel, they wasted no time in covering up. Only saw them once, but I only went up there that one time last year. Maybe they got over it, maybe not.

Also many years ago, on the Donauinsel in Vienna, a friend of mine and I ventured to the FKK area at the north end. Shortly after we arrived at a suitable spot, two teenage girls rode up on bicycles to a spot not far away. They seemed surprised by the nude people around them, but decided to try topless. That was as far as they went, but they were there quite a while.

I visited Mallorca, Spain a while back at a beach called Es Trenc (I think). Several teens arrived fully clothed. All quickly jumped out of their clothes, except for one girl. And the heckling commenced. I felt so sorry for her, I wanted to say something. But then I thought, just what she needs a naked complete stranger approaching her when she is uncomfortable to begin with. After the others were in the water for a while, she removed her top. I was thinking the same as SapporoRob, "That's it".

Unfortunately, that was it. Her friends spotted her topless and returned to the heckling. She began to cry, quickly put her top back on and stormed of the beach.

I felt terrible for her but was at a loss as to what to do. Any suggestions?

My wife and I were at Wreck Beach in Vancouver one time. We chose a spot farthest away from the entry point to the beach where there were some boulders to sit on.

Two teenagers arrived, both girls, and sat on the rocks about 25 yards beyond us. They did not undress but just looked around.

A while later, I just happened to be looking in their direction. One of the girls looked around to see if anyone was watching (she didn't notice me) then unbuttoned her shirt and opened it up, exposing her breasts for a few seconds. Then she buttoned her shirt up again, but seemed pleased with herself.

I remember thinking that it was cute how the girl had taken a small step into the nudist world.

Later on, I noticed that she had removed her shirt and was topfree, but her friend did not. An excellent second step for her on the road to full nudity.

i believe that if something disturbs you, wether you are clothed or naked, at the mall or the beach, you have the right to say something. i quite often reprimand kids at the park when they are doing something inappropriate and sometimes their parents get angry and i tell the parents politely the same thing i told their kids. once there was a bully teenager at a water park and all the moms and children were getting annoyed. so i grabbed the kids shoulder and we found his parents and i told them to watch after their kid like good parents do. the bullys dad and i almost got into it until the equally annoyed mothers around chimed in and the annoying family left. if its a family setting, than people should act accordingly. we have to take a stand sometimes.

If you want a real good time, go to a beach where you aren't sure if you can be nude, but it has always been a clothes optional beach, maybe beach. I have been going there as an adult since 96', in 2000, the sign came out "no nudist sunbathing" anyone who sees should turn them in. in 2002, the signs were gone, I went back but was very carefull. This summer if the signs aren't up I'll be there nude again and let the voyeours, see what they see and do what they do, I will be nude again, the site seers will see what they see, This beach has, At this end, a little over a mile from the main beach, been a clothing optional beach since I was a kid some 40 years ago, I'm retired now I will be there and test the nudity waters.
