  • Wet and Wild Summer

    Dear INA,

I love to see how Nudity is applied in movies. I remember an old Christopher
Atkins movie about Lifeguards in Australia. It is an 90's movie but had a great
message about nudity. I haven't been able to locate it on DVD but I think it is
    on VHS tape.

Here is the IMDB Link : http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0105801/

It is about an American Lifeguard ( Atkins ) who goes to Australia to be a
Lifeguard down under. Of course there are lots of Nude beaches there and or
topless women at the very least.

The "Best Scene" is when they first show him the beach. He instantly encounters
topless women bathing and walking about. He and two other lifeguards
finally encounter the "Nude Beach" sign marking the nude area. The sign says
something about a $500 fine if you are on the beach wearing a suit. So Atkins
watch as the two other ( Male and Female) lifeguards strip off and wait at the
entrance. He reluctantly drops his bathing suit as they watch and the all enter
the NUDE section and enter. The great thing is that the other lifeguards drop
their clothes with absolutely NO hesitation in order to enter the nude section.
They show it is no big deal and that nobody should be ashamed of their bodies.

I can't wait for the DVD version. Please include this in you Movie Section.

Ah, living in Australia, that just doesn't seem like home to me! While there may be quite a few quiet, isolated beaches, I wouldn't say "lots". And apart from one or two near each big city, beaches aren't full of the topless babe variety...

BUT having said that, I guess the movie may at least have encouraged people, perhaps even Aussies, to give it a try. I've never heard of this movie, but will keep my eyes open for it...

I would like to find a copy of a show that ran on the Showtime series "Going to California" called "The Naked And The Nude" which was about these two guys that visit a nudist resort for the first time debate with the members about if the members should look and be fit or not. I found it to be a very interesting show and hear that the cast was made up real nudists.
Regretfully the series was cancelled, but I hope it will turn up on DVD.
        thanks,
        freddg

Yes, that "Going to California" was a modern classic that came so unexpectedly out of nowhere to truly showcase naturism. I taped it a couple times and watch it from time to time. Showtime should be commended for it. The show featured a lot of very favorably lines about naturism, although one of the character says "naturalism" once or twice. There was full frontal nudity throughout, but some main characters are "protected" from exposure,
The show had to have planted some great seeds of interest in the movement.

Is that the same Christopher Atkins who was opposite Brooke Shields in "Blue Lagoon"? If so, then he has been nude before on cinema. "Wet and Wild Summer" sounds like a nice movie to see.

i always liked blue lagoon, as they featured nudity as a normal part of living in the tropics. i have never heard of the other movie, but it would be interesting for INA to interview Chris Atkins to get his opinion on his early movies and the way they depict natural nudism.
