I agree, check out your local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) or American Legion, or any other veterans organizations. If there is a VA (Veterans Administration) hospital near you, I'm sure they would have some nice suggestions.

Lots of luck on your project. Sounds like a very nice gesture.

Try Operation Shoebox it’s a good group that has done a lot of good. They are based here in Florida. They have a lot of info on there site and some other links. Most legitimate sites will not pass out names of soldiers but they give you ideas on how to find them.
We meet some of the people who volunteer with Operation Shoebox through The Bayshore Patriots here is there link as well Bayshore Patriots .
What your trying to do is great. My son was in the Marines in Iraq and always got excited when he got a care package and letters form home. God bless your friend for his sacrifice and we share your loss. I can not express how proud I am of our fighting men and women.
If you can read this, thank a teacher.
If you are reading it in English thank a soldier.

I have been trying to locate a website where I can find some names of soldiers that would like to have messages from "home" along with care packages, etc.
All of the sites I have found so far want me to pay a rediculous price for a list of names....and then they cannot even guarantee that the soldier is still there.
Does anyone have any ideas where I may be able to find such a list? I lost a buddy in IRAQ and would love to be able to send letters and what ever else to someone over there.

I know this sounds a bit corny, but I am 100% serious.

    Thanks.
