  • Prep for shoulder surgery.

The night before shoulder surgery I took a shower and dried off. I needed to use six special wipes on different parts of body. I needed to allow it to air dry. Clean sheets on bed. I needed help from wife to do my backside with the wipes. At the hospital I needed to repeat the six wipes so I proceeded to do so once again I needed my wife to do the backside. Since my wife was in wheelchair on the other side of hospital bed I walked over to her and she wiped my backside as I stood there I noticed the curtain was not fully closed it had a nice gap in it. So anyone could have seen me so I thought no big deal. So I aired dry and then proceeded to put on the gown as instructed and laid down on bed. Then the nurses came in to finish prepping me. What a wonderful day.

Something my nurse and I laughed about. She had to shave me, yet when it was time for me to change to or from the gown, protocol had her stepping out of the area. Something similar with my occupational therapist. She has been wrapping my leg from toe to crotch, but has to leave the room when I take my pants off or put them back on.

I think they are afraid of privacy violations from textiles. I do not mind being naked.

I was naked for my knee replacement and the emergency surgery to combat an infection. I had tubes and wires attached to my chest and arms and feet.

You do need to be naked for surgery. Clothing would be in the way.

I've had both of my shoulders worked on and yes, I was nude during both procedures.

Doing well after surgery I have a girl once a week to help me shower. Since my left arm is not ready for a lot of movement. So lift up my left arm with my right arm and she washes me. I feel so refreshed when she rinses me off and then dries me. I love it very much.
My stitches have been removed and I am healing well.
Home therapist comes twice a week to do physical therapy and she does a great job.
