    Nude alert

It would help if there was more information. But if the two guys weren't doing anything indecent, I'm glad the police let them go.

Thanks for the report. It is from Agoura Hills, Ca. The last line says it all: "It's not necessarily a crime to walk around naked," Flannigan said. "You have to be able to prove indecent exposure with sexual conduct."

At least someone has a sensible approach to nudity.

In California outside most cities and communities that have nudity in public ordinances, there is no state wide law saying that plain nudity in wilderness areas [unless marked] or hiking trails is against the law.

Complaints to law enforcement of plain nudity fall under the Cahill policy and must be followed up by officers in person. If seen the usual procedure is for the officer to notify the person nude that someone was offended and filed a complaint and to cover up for the remainder of the day.

Before hiking or practicing naturist activities in the nude just anyplace in isolated public areas, make sure there is not regulations, codes, signs, or restrictions saying otherwise.

Having read the article I was under the impression that it is just the one guy, but two separate occasions were reported, but I'm pleased that the good captain showed some common sense.

Here in Washington State, the law doesn't prohibit simple nudity either, but that doesn't keep law enforcement from acting like pigs.

"A person is guilty of indecent exposure if he or she intentionally makes any open and obscene exposure of his or her person or the person of another knowing that such conduct is likely to cause reasonable affront or alarm. The act of breastfeeding or expressing breast milk is not indecent exposure"

However, I've been told that the police have arrested nudists for sunbathing and minding their own business when they aobviously had no intent of alarm other people. They do get away with nude events in Seattle sometimes, but in the more conservative areas of the state the police are an unknown quantity and may take individual action regardless of the law. If you just read the law it says that you would have to knowninly intend to alarm someone in a sexual manner. But I wouldn't walk naked throgh town.

              Blessings

              Bob
