  • Premier World Naked Bike Ride - Washington, DC

As the very first WNBR in Washington, DC, we had a modest but very successful beginning, with three of us riding virtually naked, while others donned swimsuits and other clothing. The police cheerfully escorted us by motorcade, and the surprised bystanders and tourists generally loudly cheered us on. We rode a bit down Pennsylvania Avenue, past the Capitol, then past a number of museums up Independence Avenue, past the Washington Monument and near the White House. Pretty shocking! Actually it was exhilarating and quite refreshing to experience.

I'm planning this image layout for a commemorative book through Aperture on my Mac, and comments are welcome. Since I pretty much shot the pictures, I am mostly not in them. I hope more will join us next time, following this ground-breaking precedent. Enjoy!

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing with us. Too bad there weren't anymore 'nudists' to participate, but as long as you had fun, that's all that counts.

        Hey Thanks, NudeM!

Your compliments are greatly appreciated. I'm hoping these pictures convey the fun we had, and help recruit more participants next year. We really had a blast doing this. Yet the ride felt so natural and easy. The exposure was not even much of a thought at the time; it was simply a nice Spring bicycle ride on a Sunday morning, sans clothing! I have not uploaded the book for printing yet. At 39 pages, it will cost around $60.00 for printing and shipping per copy; so I'm still saving up for this.

Some day, you'll be able to say to the gathered nude riders, 100's of them, "I was one of the first 3 people to do this ride" Great pictures, real dedication, Cheers!
