"Dressed in character, nudists meet in Rio: They want a law approved to create nudist areas."
Article in Friday's O Estado de S. Paulo ("The Newspaper your Grandfather Read"). Opening of 10th Congrenat, Brazilian Naturist Congress. Illustrated with color photo taken at a distance but showing that yes, female humans are equipped to nurse their young, while males have external genitalia.
Meeting on Abricó beach, discussed here maybe a year ago becaue of their nude security guards. Meeting closed to the clothed curious, but open to clothed reporters. A TV cameraman visible in photo.
Says that their are only eight naturist beaches in the country. Meeting is to discuss ways to push adoption of the Gabeira Law, which will authorize states and cities to designate nudist areas. The law has been approved by the Chamber of Deputies and in Senate committees, now needing only to be approved on the Senate floor.
(The law's sponsor is Fernando Gabeira, who I mentioned on the board a month or so back: he's the Congressman who had written of his memories of "sweet afternoons" as a teenager being debauched by an older, male, alderman. The opposite of Mark Foley in a number of ways.)
But getting back to the article, there's a plan to organize a world naturism congress in 2008, the first to be organized in the southern hemisphere, at Tambaba Beach in the state of Paraíba.
There's a business meeting scheduled away from the beach, and clothed. There are representatives of 27 naturist entities, from seven states and the Federal District.
Ends with a couple of paragraphs about naturists not liking to confused with swingers.
An online version of the article (not for the Portuguese-challenged) http://www.estadao.com.br/ultimas/ci...nov/02/175.htm
Same news from Globo TV. Click on picture for video. Again, Portuguese.
