  • Sports Illustrated Body-Painted Swimsuits

    Well, here's a sight/site I thought I'd never see: body-painted swimsuits on CNN's Sport's Illustrated page, eg:
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/swimsuit/collection/is...g_05_bycategory.html

    More at:
    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/swi.../bodypainting/

CNN actually showing topfree pictures (pretty much). Is this a first? They are actually top free, right? Or are my eyes playing tricks on me? Man, they nearly popped right out of their sockets when I saw this!

(Let me emphasize that my admiration for these pictures is purely for artistic merit.)

I think this whole body-painting thing is so very cool. Some friends got totally painted at Hedonism a few years ago and I have seen the most outrageous pictures from Fantasy Fest and Mardi Gras. It does not surprise me that SI caught on. It is so sexy and some of the designs are absolutely gorgeous. You will be amazed if you catch the full-body medusa from Fantasy Fest 2004. She is completely nude in full paint and headress and walking in the streets of Key West. I can't wait to have someone paint me..perhaps a nautical theme???!!! Sports Illustrated..now I may actually buy your swimsuit issue!

Perhaps the SI body painting feature will help it catch on. I'm very interested in the cultural ramifications of this. Though I've not given body painting a lot of thought, until now, the fact that a major publication is featuring it may well make it very mainstream...and, of course, the associated topfreedom (or more).

As I was suggesting in my first post, I was rather amazed to see a topfree model on CNN's web site. I can only imagine that the morality police were not given advance warning. It will be very interesting to see how this plays out given what happened over a microscopic millisecond blur of Janet Jackson's nipple.

Thanks for your feedback barbararuth; I'm very interested to find out what CFFers think of this.

I think it's cool. I certainly would like to see society relax as to what people wear (or don't wear) so that's a plus. Why now have fun with it and be artistic at the same time?

Thanks for the link. Very cool. I love body painting that looks so real.

I'm really not sure why you thought this would be "censored" though.

Very little is ever actually censored here. We do have certain standards of taste perhaps and have to keep the content appropriate for a family oriented website. Some "censorship" does exist on even the most open minded & liberal websites, including this one. It's not always a bad thing.

            Thanks Doug.

What I meant was that CNN/SI might be forced to pull the photo gallery once word got out -- not that CFF would delete my link to CNN/SI.

Gotcha. That's what I get for reading your post too quickly.

It seems that it's OK to show nude models as long as they are wearing "clothes" hehe

Thanks for a really neat web site. I normally don't care much about body painting because so much of it is (IMHO) so poorly done. This site is proof that it can be done with a lot of artistic merit.

Definitely a thumbs up in my book. I too love the ones that look so realistic it's hard to imagine the clothes are paint-ons.

Those are really creative works of art! The artists attention to detail are great! Theyve found really talented artists to them. Ive seen something like this on Ripley's Believe It or Not...i was very difficult to tell between the real swimsuits & the painted ones.

Has anyone here seen the Painted Ladies of the Playboy Mansion? Those also are some very cool paint jobs!

I'm curious what they are wearing on their pubic region. Their bottoms (at least most of themO are also painted on, but there is obviously something there. It doesn't seem to be tied on or wrapped around their waist. Any ideas?

Dittos to what everyone else said. Very artistic paintings. Thanks for sharing.

The were wearing bikini bottoms. The name of the maker was listed for each photo.
