    Dear Naked Riders of Nudecastle,

The next World Naked Bike Ride is coming!

Sunday the 12th of March is the day we celebrate the power of our
naked bodies pushing pedals against a carbon induced Nemesis of
nature. Newcastle will join cities in New Zealand and Florida in the
southern hemisphere leg of the World Naked Bike Ride.

The protest themes will continue to be against oil dependency,
cars and war, and for peace, love, environment, personal freedom,
    public transport and bikes.

The dress Code for the World Naked Bike Ride is Bare as You Dare!
YOU get to decide how naked you wish to be.
If that means completely naked, the decision is yours.

Some of you have been coming to the monthly Critical Mass rides
that World Naked Bike Ride has supported since our last ride. A
meeting was held in April last year to discuss issues and plan out
our future activities. I have attached the minutes from the April
    meeting below.

We all need to get together as a big group again to plan our 2006
World Naked Bike Ride in Newcastle now!

The ride assembly point and route needs to be discussed. We need
your input! People who can help with little jobs in the preparation
for the event (such as handing out flyers or putting up posters)
will be very welcome. We can have an update on what has been
achieved from the goals we set ourselves in April. There is a report
that marketing academics have prepared to guide the successful
promotion of WNBR and this document will be circulated. We also need
any members or representatives of groups with like minded interests
to come along and get involved. World Naked Bike Ride Australia is
looking for other groups to have reciprocal website links and give
    us their endorsement.

    So…

Please come along to the World Naked Bike Ride – Nudecastle
    Meeting
Place: The Oriental Hotel, Corner of Bull & Bruce St, Cooks Hill
    Time: 7:00 PM
    Date: Wed 25 January 2006
Please wear clothes to the meeting and bring your friends. Please
circulate this email to your friends and groups.

You might wonder why you should get into the World Naked Bike
Ride. It's because you might save the world or die laughing while
    trying.

Previous minutes of meeting 14th of April 2005

A meeting of naked cyclists was held on the 14th of April 2005 and
a number of issues pertinent to WNBR were discussed.

8 people attended and they know who they are.

The idea of participating in the WNBR on June 11th 2005 in tandem
with the Northern hemisphere was discussed. The weather, the amount
of preparation, organising, publicity and media novelty were topics
in the discussion. In the end, it was decided not to try to make a
ride happen on the 11th of June. The group would concentrate on
promoting and building for the next summer Southern hemisphere ride.

The world body would be asked to make the next ride in the 3rd
week of the Southern hemisphere university academic year. The timing
of the Saint Valentines day ride of 2005 was not conducive to
soliciting the participation of university students because they
were all on summer break. A stall could be set up during uni
orientation week for the promotion of the event. The uni students
were seen as a significant large group of people who are conscious
of the themes of the protest and likely to participate.

The themes of the ride should remain consistent with existing
themes and the passions of the potential participants should be
aroused by them. The civil disobedient and rebellious aspect was
seen as attractive to the young at heart and spirited.

The meeting endorsed and supported Critical Mass and resolved to
promote Critical Mass events on an ongoing basis to form a dedicated
core of cycling activists. Critical Mass will hold monthly rides on
the first Friday of every month starting at Civic Park at 6pm and
    riding to Hamilton.

Liaison and communication with other community groups with
    consistent protest themes would continue.

Marte would investigate the possibility of having an exhibition of
the WNBR Nudecastle pictures and video at a local community art
gallery to promote the ride. A data projector could be employed to
display the existing digital images and video at low cost. The Watt
Space gallery was suggested because they support the work of
Newcastle Uni graduates on a non-commercial basis. A report back
    will occur.

The meeting endorsed having regular meetings. The date and time of
the next meeting will be advised.

The meeting endorsed that the next ride should be preceded by at
least one ice-breaking get together for the intending participants.
An orientation explaining the aims and methods of WNBR should be
held on private premises or a venue like a pub that can be booked
for our exclusive use. A slide show of the last ride could be
included. Drinking, team building exercises and mandatory
introductions would feature as well as a practise nude (bare as you
dare) body painting session. The ice-breaker would not immediately
precede the ride because alcohol affected naked bike riders could be
a serious safety risk to themselves and others plus they might have
double trouble (being naked and drunk) with the police.

All future publicity material will advise potential participants
that the media will be present at the WNBR and they should expect to
be photographed and filmed if they participate.

Marte will prepare a generic quarter A4 flyer that includes the
naked Indian rider, the details of the regular Critical Mass rides,
website addresses and yahoo group details for both CM and WNBR.
These will be posted to the web and yahoo group and should be
circulated at every opportune occasion (e.g. demos, rallies,
    meetings, at the pub etc.)

Marte explained that it was preferable to keep the WNBR Nudecastle
organisation loose, without a hierarchy and that no financial
transactions would take place. There would be no need for financial
transparency in the circumstances that there was nothing to account
for in the first place. There would be never be a question of self-
interest if money is never involved.

Yours truly naked in two wheeled protest,
