I have wonderful 11-year-old twin children, “Evan” and “Franny,” a boy and a girl. They’ve had separate rooms since they were 7. In the past few months, I’ve woken up to find them in the same bed and intertwined about a dozen times. I don’t think anything is going on, but they do both sleep in the nude, and my daughter does already have pubic hair. What, if anything, should I do to discourage this? I don’t want them to have negative ideas about sex, but I also don’t want my two kids hooking up!

Dear Prudence: I found my 11-year-old twins sleeping naked together

The important thing to do would be to talk to the twins. You can't learn anything about your children by asking a advice columnist. That said, if the twins had been sleeping in separate rooms for years and recently began to sleep in the same room, there could be something wrong. They are also doing this without telling their parents, so it may be sexploration after their parents have gone to bed.

I would have some concerns myself, especially since they already have separate rooms and entering the teen years. I would definitely have a long conversation with them. Would I let it continue? Depends on how the conversations went, leaning towards: probably not. Now practicing nudity around the house, most definitely. It's in a family environment, so that wouldn't bother me.
