  • Peel’s ‘naked man' trash pamphlet sparks outrage

Some residents consider Peel’s waste management pamphlet depicting a naked man a moral outrage

Some find the image comical — the ad suggests people have not evolved enough to put clothes on when taking out the trash — while others argue the literature is indecent, offensive and even racist.

You ever wonder why someone is not happy with certain results/events, the word racist ALWAYS comes up? Sad part is, the people who use racist to promote their "ideas" are themselves using racism to get their point across.

#1 - Anyone who automatically associates monkeys with race, is HIMSELF being racist.

#2 - The Pamphlet. Don't people have anything else to b!tch about? I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I wouldn't have noticed the cartoon "nudity."

#3 - I think the evolution of man and the evolution of trash is a mighty weak metaphor.

      Strange world we live in.....

Sometimes the racism is hard to miss.

True, but sometimes it's made up under false pretenses.

Surprised that some people weren't offended over the concept of evolution -- which for some people, is an offensive scientific concept.

Hell, there are still some people who think that the earth is a flat plate....

I question how many people found this pamphlet offensive. My guess is very few. One person even admitted that it wasn't until he actually tried to think of the pamphlet's picture that he started to overthink the picture. I can't think of any reason why it could be considered racist unless ignorant people immediately see monkeys and think racism. This is actually a very common evolution picture, just with recycling bins added. I guess they think that picture is also racist.

I think this is much ado over nothing, both in terms of the so-called offense over the pamphlet and the number of people who were offended.

I personally fail to see why this would cause an outrage on any of the fronts mentioned. However I have to admit I am generally a benevolent person who looks for the honest plain good/truth in people and things and not for hidden meanings - a prime reason why I fail to appreciate impressionistic art. I do find it slightly amusing mostly because I have personally taken the trash out nude on many occasions whenever I lived in a home where I could get away with minimal risk.
