At the end of the season premiere of Survivor last night, they promoed the next episode with several comments about nudity and shots of naked contestants. One comment was something like "How did my team become the naked team?" I haven't been able to find any clips or press about it - not that I've looked very hard.

If there is any show that should be a showcase for unabashed nudity, Survivor is it. Given that statement, I found the past few seasons' constant blurring or blacking out of bodies in motion, a real turn off. Too bad, this show could have pushed the envelope on so many fronts but seems to have taken the easy road just to grow stale and die.

And, since it’s Shirin and Max, two of the smartest contestants on the island, it begs the question: Is there a direct correlation to IQ and the desire to expose oneself?
We don't normally watch "Survivor". We happened to accidentally catch the premiere, and I was intrigued by the nudity promo for episode two. I missed it and ended up watching it on demand last night.
I would say the nudity was handled pretty well. Some of the cast members expressed a very matter of fact attitude toward nudity and were shown doing a few things nude. Some of the other cast members expressed their discomfort with this. But I didn't feel the show took a particular editorially slant.
I really like the idea that millions of people (or whatever the ratings are) are watching this - whole families with children. It is a great exposure to people being nude in a non-sexual way. I think of seeds being planted and minds mulling over the idea of nudity. If AANR and TNS weren't so inept, they'd have press releases and articles about this episode praising the contestants and promoting naturism. YNA certainly will.
