  • WE ASKED A NUDIST ABOUT ATTENDING MILEY CYRUS’S NAKED CONCERT

Miley Cyrus and the Flaming Lips have implied that they're organizing a concert together in which both they and their audience will be naked.

I don't think this will ever take place.

    Who's gonna promote it?

Where would it be held? Finally - maybe I'm out of touch but isn't her audience primarily a teenage one? How many are under 18 - which would prevent their attendance at something like this.

Sounds like Miley is attempting to extend her 15 minutes of fame.

I don't know why I'm reminded of the South Park episode, where everyone in town has to rush home because they're going to say "S**t" on television for the first time. Even as a nudist, I think I'm missing something over the attention being paid to this event - which likely will never happen, or if it does it will be in a controlled - SMALL - environment, like a small nightclub. It won't happen in a Las Vegas main room or a major sports venue.

The article states that one aspect of the proposed nude concert would be that it would be a part of Miley's video for her song "Milky Milky Milk", a very sexual song. This could happen with an age limit, but I do wonder if it will ever happen.

I thought Felicity's answers in the article to the reporter's questions hit just the right tone, being nonchalantly informative and commending about Miley's "body positivity" and "#freethenipple" activism, while keeping clear the difference between nudity and sexual...

I would definitely attend a concert of this nature.
Although I have not seen Miley in concert, I attended two(2) Flaming Lips presentations and they were both extraordinary.

Although certainly not my market and I would have no interest in seeing Miley or the group naked... I have to give credit to Miley for creating a publicity sensation and to draw attention to herself. All publicity.. good or bad.. (they say) is good. Its about shock value and exhibitionism. Nothing to do with nudism as a lifestyle.

My impression of Ms. Cyrus is that she is legitimately into body freedom and equality for women. However, she is ignorant of "nudism" and "naturism" as movements. She seems to conflate nudity and sexuality nonchalantly; nudity without sex: OK, nudity with sex: OK.

It would be wonderful for someone like Felicity from YNA to meet her and tell her about the rest of us out here.

Whatever. She's using her nudity to sell records and keep in the public eye. It is not unlike what some musicians and even actresses did to resuscitate a flagging career - they posed for Playboy. Suzanne Somers, Tiffany, Farrah Fawcett, and so on. This is a similar move.

Is YNA still going on with events?

I don't think it's so "black and white." Miley has an admitted preference for nudity, both on and off camera. Which puts her in a different category than some of the other artists that have posed nude solely for the sake of publicity of for an extra paycheck. She has said some quite positive things about body acceptance.
Does that mean she hasn't capitalized on her preference for nudity for the sake of fame and fortune? Absolutely not. She has stated herself that she's very aware that nudity has greatly contributed to her current success.

I wouldn't count on a truly nude performance though. It would be a logistical nightmare. And it's for a video - which leads to me believed it will be more "smoke and mirrors" - rather than an authentically nude performance.

Changing topic here slightly here - YNA? Are they holding events? Or just selling membership cards and running a website? They seemed to have fallen off the nudist radar screen.

I don't know if the Miley Cyrus, Inc. machine is using YNA to promote the proposed video, or vice-versa....

Well...Miley has "done it again." She was nude backstage at the VMA's, took a picture and it's probably about to go viral. Whether her commitment to nudity is sheer sensationalism, or it's "Miley just being Miley"...

What I saw in the 45 uncensored photographs was sensationalism that emphasized sex. The outfits, the cover ups, and the poses are the kind of shots I would expect to find on a teenaged boy's bedroom wall.
