No, dateline was February 9, 2016. I saw it in a crawl the other night while watching the election returns. The story has been downplayed. Obviously - with other similar incidents, the media is soft-pedaling this.
There was a police shooting incident in Philadelphia a few weeks back where someone tried to "assassinate" an officer while sitting in a cruiser; a similar one occurred in Boston where a known drug dealer allegedly began a shootout with police, and was shot and apprehended.
The unusual thing about both of those shootings = if someone fires upon a police officer, up to now it had been standard procedure, to return the fire, and shoot to kil". In both of these incidents, the police went out of their way to NOT do that.
You would have thought - in this case - but, it was a black officer who fired on a black youth - so... who knows.
