Interesting about Massachusetts beaches, although I wonder how many women will actually go topless even if it is legal. NY did a similar thing in the late 80s or early 90s by legalizing toplessness on beaches, but you never see any women actually doing it.

First of all, it's not "legal on many beaches" here. It is ONE town - Nantucket - opted for it, in a town meeting, because a resident (not an "outsider") asked for it. And they had to wait on the Attorney General (Maura Healey) to approve it. She is now Governor, but waited until after the election to approve it. IT IS NOT STATEWIDE.

Our neighboring states - New York, it's been legal for some time. Ditto Maine -- through geographical coincidence, Maine is only around 18 miles from Massachusetts. IT IS NOT A WIDESPREAD PRACTICE. Likewise, New Hampshire permits women to go top-free on state property, which includes the entire seacoast. You may see one or two women at Hampton Beach on a summer's day. That's it.

Getting back to Nantucket - IT'S AN ISLAND, and Johnnie can't easily borrow Mom's car for a couple hours and get over there for a look. So the gawker factor won't be at play in Nantucket.
