  • New research on nudity in Eden

    There is some evidence that Adam and Eve may have been created in central Ethiopia, and that their descendants remained nude for centuries before "God gave them clothes" to wear. And that came primarily because as they moved slowly nortward, they needed clothing for changing weather and climate conditions. The oldest farming villages were in Palestine; the oldest city is Jericho. See my article at FigLeafForum.com under Bible Discussions: Genesis: General Discussions.

      Careful that sounds awfully like evolution and we all know that did not happen now don't we.

        It is well understood that God created us and that our species has been proven to have begun in Africa. Any and all races of humans began in Africa.

        The gargen of Eden could be there also. We are not totally sure of how man began whether it be evolution (what I do beleive in) or if God simply "POOF!!" made man and then woman but some person way back in time needed an answer to the question and for lack of any other evidence the story began.

        Again, the bible is a great book, full of wonderful advice and is the greatest story ever told, but it is full of errors as much as truth.

          The bible is also made up of metaphors and not always something to be taken literally.

            Every subject you can imagine is discussed in the bible. There is nothing in our existance that is not at least touched on if not discussed in depth.

            I did note that there was a great story on PMS. Mary was really coming down on Joseph to go to Bethleham from Nazzerith to give birth.

            Joseph did not want to go for a variety of reasons. But over time Mary haggled on Joseph so that he eventually gave in.

            ANd with that, they went to Bethleham and Mary rode Joseph's *** all the way.

            The 3 wise men also came to Bethleham in a Honda car. It is written that the 3 wise men went to Bethelham in their own accord !

              "It is well understood that God created us"
              ARG!

              ahahahaha, I always thought that this was one of the most hotly contested debate topics ever...not well understood by all. If god creates all of us, why does he need a stork to deliver us, why not just FedEx?

              And not that I make a habit of reading it, but didnt the bible say Eden was between the tigris and euphrates. That puts it in Iraq. Am I thinking of something else? And I would really disagree with the bible touching on all topics we today would find relvant and meaningful. Example: nuclear war, gun control, abortion, terrorism, global epidemics, et cetera.

              happy holidays kmart shoppers!

                Actually Eden is thought to have been a fertile valley that existed about 12,000 years ago on what is the northwest corner of Arabia by most reputable Historians and Archeaologists. Or may have been around what is called Giza today because of the existence of the Sphinx which was erected about 12,000 years ago, seven thousand years before the first pyramids.

                Both areas are far older and by no means christian, than the book places eden.

                The book is nothing more than an anthology, a collection of disjointed, contradicting stories of war, plauge, devient sex, cruelty, lust, genecide, catasrophies and fantasy all to entertain and amuse the populus. The entire collection was stolen whole or in part and combined with other parts from older traditons and is nothing but a "pulp" novel of its day which has far passed!

                There is the Celtic traditon that is at least 8000 years old and it has the first people in paradise as Ask (ash tree) and Elba (elm tree). This tradition has paradise in the Caucus Mountains and is far older than the book stories as well.

                All of these locations would have been conducive to life sans clothing, the first two were in what was a very warm and humid region now turned hot and arid, the third in a moderate climate in both temprature and moisture now turned cooler and wetter due to the shift in the rains across Africa about 8000 years ago which formed the Sahara and Arabian deserts and allowed cooler weather from Siberia to move south into the Caucus Mountains.

                    It is a "garden" in the middle of nothinness, full of fruit, vegetables, sunshine, beuaty, peace and joy (that is if we let it be!)

                    Think about it . . . you are in the Garden.

                      Brian of course the earth is the garden of Eden. You have caught me at a good time for that thought! We just had three days of driving in northern British Columbia and seeing the beauty of this part of the world. Okay, so it is not the time to be nude outdoors....that is for sure! It was confirmation that we do need to venture out on drives in the winter in order to see spectacular scenery!

                        I think this whole sector of the Galaxy must be the Garden of Eden. Just think about it - how else do you explain all the very similar humanoid races around here? Humans, Vulcans, Romulans, Klingons, Betans, Trill (unjoined), Bajoran etc. etc.

                        Cool

                          In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. [notice: no date given]

                          On the sixth day God created animals, and humanity. They are separated in the narrative. "Day" can mean era or epoch. No evolution needed here.

                          As for most of the rest of your drivel -- I will not reply to it. Go and read the article first, and then come back and show your level of intellect.

                            Conflicts Between the Creation Stories
                            of Genesis Chapters One and Two

                            There are some apparent inconsistencies between the first and second creation accounts: There may be a conflict over the number of days over which creation happened. Genesis 1:3 and subsequent verses say that God created the universe in six days.
                            In Genesis 2:4, some translations, including the King James Version, imply that it took one day.

                            - Exodus 20:11 and 31:17: Creation is described as taking six days.

                            - Job 38:4 to 38:7 The creation of the earth is described as occurring on a single morning "when the morning stars sang together."

                          • In the first account, God created fruit trees before Adam and Eve;
                            in the second account, God created Adam, then the fruit trees, then Eve.

                          • In the first account, God created animals before Adam and Eve;
                            in the second account, God created Adam. then the animals, then Eve.

                          • Genesis 1:20 describes how God had "the waters bring forth ...fowl" ;
                            in Genesis 2:19, God formed them "out of the ground".

                          • In the first account, God created the fish on the 5th day;
                            in the second account, the fish of the sea were not created at all.

                            It is written that;
                            God made Adam out of earth; this is a belief common to many early Pagan religions in the Middle East.

                            The story also indicates that;
                            God performed the first surgical operation, removing a rib from Adam and transforming it into the first woman, Eve.

                            Well that's not very christian-like now is it? If this is an example of christianity I'm heading for wicca.
