    The folks that say nudity is a sin do not understand nudity. Nude does not = sex, nude does not = lust. There are many clothed people that conduct themselves in an immoral sexual way. It is the person not what he/she is or isn't wearing

      "Nude does not = sex, nude does not = lust"

      For them it does. The problem is that they wnt their own thoughts to be the prevailing thought. They don't care that it doesn't for other people nor that it doesn't for them most of the time.

      "It is the person not what he/she is or isn't wearing"

      The clothes of the mind can be sinful, acn't they?

        My church once had a guest speaker who is a missionary in Southern Africa. Someone asked him about a tribe of converts that was entirely naked. He said "As long as they are clothed with the righteousness of Jesus, I will admit them to my church." Amen!

          Hmmmm . . . . I like to do these little logic equations sometimes. Perhaps it isn't the sin and lust that some people think are the problem, but the underlying SHAME they have about nudity. Perhaps that's the real issue.

          nudity = shame
          shame = lust
          lust = sin

          I don't know the answer . . . just glad I don;t have the mindset.

            Unfortunately, in our society a very common, and sometimes not so subliminal message is that nudity=sex. Look at movies or ads. Sex is a common thread in many of them, and the people portrayed are wearing very little. Sadly this message is taught to children from an early age and it is hard to unlearn something as we get older.

              I would concur!! Good answer of that missionary, DeathKnight!

                you're right. it's the action we take when nude that makes it immoral. our society only has one action on nudity and you hit it on the head.

                  Sex is the obvious thing folks think of when they observe nudity, but might there also be other subconscious things effecting their attitude, such as the excretory function of the 'nether regions.' That's even more private than sex.

                    I like your answer. Nicely put and I'll try to get it right when talking to certain non-nudist friends. Frank

                      Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Anger, Greed and Sloth. A sin can be directly attributed to one of these.

                      I don't believe nudity, in the naturist way of thinking, can be attributed to one of these. How can nudity be a sin?

                        There is absolutely NO scripture that speaks of nudity as being sin. The ONLY time nudity is spoken of in a negative way in the Bible is when there is inapproprite sex involved, or when the nudity is forced on someone like in time of war when the captives were stripped naked.
