  • Pope's Visit: No Christian Naturists?

Given all the hoopla surrounding the visit of Pope Francis to the US, I was just curious why Christian naturists have been absent? An historic opportunity missed?

I'm sure there were some Christian Naturists in the crowd - given the fact that one of the country's largest nudist groups - Pine Tree Associates - is right around the corner in Maryland - and Maryland is a state with a strong Catholic heritage. But it wasn't the naturists' day, it was the Pope's day.

What did you have in mind? Streaking through the crowd. Maybe a group of women pulling off their shirts in NY with Free the Nipple written across their chests?

Oh, I was thinking of something very dignified with the modest aim of introducing naturists as a distinct group of Christians. Just the initiative to write a letter seeking to meet with the Pope during his visit would get naturists on the radar. Showing up as a group along one of the motorcade routes with appropriate advance press contact. Having a clear group message, in whatever context, supporting the Pope's focus on human dignity, interpersonal respect, harmony with nature and thoughtful stewardship of the environment, etc. Of course, if you managed to secure a permit for a naturist prayer vigil on the National Mall, all the better....

Agde very good plan. Maybe next year , when the Pope visits Poland something like this can occur.
