any working artists out there?

Hi, I'm an Australian currently living in Germany.
I'd love to hear from anyone else out there trying to make a living from art and creativity. Its a hard slog and I'm sure if we share good ideas we can get some inspiration! At the moment I am trying to sell some designs on t shirts, and getting ready to try and get a series of paintings exhibited somewhere. I know I can learn a lot from others' experiences.

As a former commercial artist, I had found business to be increasingly more and more difficult in recent years. I needed to change the cycle of inconsistentcy and in 1990, I used my artistic talents and business knowledge to create an artistically-based graphic design and marketing company. Using creativity and the latest technology, the company produces print collaterals, web design, art & illustration and animation. We have recently added a photography dept, a copy writer and print brokers so we can claim that we are a one-stop source for affordable graphic services. Today, we sell to direct clients as well as outsource creative services to advertising agencies and other design firms. This may be a direction you may want to explore. Good luck

Yes Garbo, I hadn't thought of such a direction at the moment but yes that kind of lateral thinking is the only road to success I think. At the moment I'll probably stick with the painting and trying to sell a few t-shirts online ( www.cafepress.com/uniqueboy ) if anyone has time to give me any feedback! I wonder if a line of t-shirts for nudists would sell or if there is an error of logic there???

yes I would love to hear from a working art model Sanslines, I love life drawing and the model is such an integral part of the artwork, not only their form on the paper but the energy from the relationship with the artist in the room at the time!

And mightysven, I would LOVE to hear more about knitted sculpture. I made a knitted hamburger as part of a larger work in highschool, i wonder if its the same concept???
