^^ Due to a complicated set of circumstances, the dates for this trip were set just one month in advance of our stay on Crete. Vritomartis was fully booked by that time, but we were able to find a Vrbo across the main road on the outskirts of Chora Sfakion. The Vrbo had its own pool. It became my habit to run downhill to Filaki Beach in the early morning, go for a swim, and walk back uphill. The distance from the Vrbo to the Filaki Beach was 1.65 miles. About half of that distance was from the Vritomartis perimeter fence to the beach. The running shorts and jersey came off for that part of the run. Staying outside of Vritomartis had the advantage that we spent much of the trip exploring the area rather than staying within the walls of the resort. We visited all the taverns and shops in Chora Sfakion and became on a first-name basis with many of the shopkeepers.

This photo was taken in a cove to the west of Filaki Beach in 2005. My wife and I were the only ones there.
I suggested to my wife repeating the photo this year. This time we were at Filaki Beach. We had to wait until late in the day after the other beachgoers had left so that we could take photos without upsetting anyone.

I love to snorkel, and have always taken it with me since the mid 80s when I had my first experience in the ocean. Snorkeling nude is an unfounded experience to most people, and a delightful one at that. Especially when you can do it with a group of other nudists. I had an acquaintance take a photo of me, similar to yours, but have never seen it, while on Roatan. He was using 35mm SLR. Lots of great memories. Beautiful shots, wish we were there.
