• How to get started

I'm new to naturist activity. I'm sure that this topic has been discussed ad infinitum, but I'm trying to figure out how to move beyond private nudity in my own home. Over some extended time, I have known that I was a closet naturist. I have finally mustered up the courage to walk around my home naked and outside under the cover of darkness. But I can't decide how to make the next step - to the light of day. I have long felt the call of nudity, but can't seem to move to second base. Any suggestions?

Is there any Federal lands close to you? If so, take a hike. There are no laws against nudity on most federal lands although county laws may apply.

BTW, welcome to the forum. You've found a place of many friends you never knew you had.

Thanks Mike,
This has been an interesting journey to get to the point that I can muster the courage to do what I have wanted to enjoy for a long time. It is so liberating, but one of those journeys you feel like you are taking alone. I know that there are many others out there like me, and we just struggle with how to realize what we know is our reality.

I am sitting there right with you NUNEWD. I almost made it to the nude resort today. I would have gone in if i could of found it. I didn't have the correct direction ( going from memory ) Well there is always next weekend. I would feel a lot better if I had someone to go with me.

nunewd,

All my life I enjoyed being nude whenever and wherever I could indoors and out--but only alone. I was 55 before getting up the courage to try social nudism. Looking at the INA photos gave me the courage to go to a nudist venue despite my fear. My first time I got hooked, and now I LIVE in a nudist resort full-time! I don't know your age, and I'm assuming you're 18 or above, so if there's a nude beach or a nudist club or resort near you, give it a try. I guarantee you won't regret it, but you will if you let your fear stop you.

I know what you mean. There is comfort in support from others.

I went for the first time to a resort about 9 years ago. Same as you, I didn't want to go alone. To my surprise, I found someone willing to come with me. However, allthough he enjoyed it, it was only an experience for him so again I ended up alone.

Being shy, having problems with meeting new ppl in an environment that I am not familliar with and being a single guy (in these situations doesn't always look good), for 5 years I held back and remained a home nudist just like you.

3 years ago, the urge of walking around in the sunshine, outdoors, amongst others like me, was burning inside me.

Now I am not one to do things alone (I still have probs going to McDonald's alone!) but I decided to build up that courage and go alone to do what I like.

It was around this time of year, hadn't taken or left on a vacation in many years and my b-day was on it's way. I took the week of my b-day off as vacation, found a resort not too far from my house, put the camping gear in the car and went for 3 days.

Since it was early season, there weren't too many ppl there during the week so that helped. BUT... it was the best b-day gift that I have ever given myself. Since then, weather permitting, I always go to a resort alone.

I hope some day to do as Jon-Marc and live there full time but of course in a warmer climat (I'm in Montreal).

Don't miss out on this wonderful experience and you will make friends there.

Cirram, a lot of Canadians spend the winter in Florida nudist resorts and then go back north when the heat and humidity get too intense. You would see a lot of maple leaf flags down there!

Trailscout, I know that. However, I am in no position to do that at the moment. I hope that in the furture I will be able to afford it. It it my BIGGEST dream when I retire.

Trailscout,

That's exactly what I would like to do--live here during the VERY short warm weather, and live in Florida the rest of the year, if I could afford two homes. What I should have done instead of buying this trailer and obligating myself here was to move to Florida and then just come up here for a visit when possible and rent a cabin or something at TLR. That would have been the smart thing to do depending on whether or not I could afford Florida. Everybody I've spoken to talks about how expensive it is to live there.

Jon-Marc,

Your grandkids are busy with school much of the year, so I don't see why you could not live in Michigan in the summer when they are out of school and you could visit them then. Then most of the year when the kids are not available anyway, you would be living somewhere warm.

I guess it depends on how much money you can save toward that goal from your Walmart job.

Speaking of affordable, you might get in touch with Bill Martin. Natura resort might be more affordable when it opens to the public. Their goal is to make nudist living affordable, so it would sure be worth looking into.

Nunewd..

Tell us more about where you live.. who do you live with, etc...

For me, I lived in a subdivision with my wife and small child when we decided to visit a local nudist club. It was a family nudist club, which means it accepted couples and single females. It wasn't Clothing Optional, but nudist.. which is that you need to be nude or they'll ask you to be nude. It was a BLAST. My wife and I didn't ever want to get dressed again. That was about 6 years ago. About 3 years ago, we moved out on 14 acres and my family and I are nude almost always.

I've gotten to the point since last summer of asking friends, whom know I'm a nudist already.. since buying the house -- "so I can walk around my house outside nude" I declared at the time -- asking them "Do you mind me getting nude". If they don't mind.. I'm nude, if they mind I'm not.

Some people are 'militant' nudists.. heh.. that's my term for those that will open the door nude regardless of who comes over and 'be damned' with their opinion. I can respect that demand for their personal expressions and freedoms, but that isn't for me. At least not yet having younger children, etc.. heh

Anyway.. I'd say visit a nudist place. Preferbaly a nudist club where you can get to know others rather than a nude beach which can quite often be more about hedonism than 'simply being nude' with others. Just my $.02..

Welcome to the 'club'. heh..
