  • Black's Beach Trip Report

Today I was at Black's Beach again. The weather was warm but cloudy. The water was about 60 degrees. Life guards were on the beach. Hang gliders could be seen flying above the cliffs.

I walked down the trail barefoot, but this time my feet held up.

Maybe a hundred people on the beach total. Mostly male, saw one female.

Some clothed loser was going from person to person. He seemed to be asking questions. When he got, to the couple he stopped for a long time. Its fools like these who make females uncomfrontable at beaches.

All in all I had a great time but didn't stay too long, maybe 3 hours total.

I heard that about Black's Beach, which is just not right!

I have a poster of Black's Beach looking as if it was taken from a low flying Helicopter.
The beach was full of men, women and children and some seem to be waving and/or looking up at the camera.....hard to tell the age of this poster as no date is listed and people's hair is wet so no styles stick out!

      Anyway...I digress.
But what people who have been there tell me is that you have a beach mostly males, looking around for the rare female and gravitate in that direction.
Also that there are clothed individuals hanging out just to voyuer!

      This is sad.

I have been going to Black Beach since my college days ('79), back then it was full of families and not too many loosers. Many college friends were introduced and remain nudist to this day, men and women. How ever my wife is reluctant in going to the beach because there are less and less women or families at this beach. You see more clothed men bring beer and sitting around starring at the women. It is too bad such a beautiful area can not be saved from the perverts.
My wife and I miss the beach very much but have been visitng resorts lately. If a group of people (men and women) decide to visit Black Beach, count us in....

Sad to say, but Black's Beach has gone down hill the past 10 or so years. Before that, there was a much better crowd mix. Now, too many weird guys chase the few women off the beach. It is not as relaxed as it used to be as you either have guys trying to sneak photos on the beach or from up on the cliffs. If a woman lays out nude, there will be a non stop line of men approaching her until she is chased off the beach. Also too many groups on that beach now have too much 'bad attitude'.

Did you see So_Cal Bob's post in the new naturist's forums titled, "Stories for my class?" Apparently he was at Black's that day too and interviewing people. I don't care to ask him but maybe he was the clothed individual interviewing people? ?

Well g1212 that 'clothed loser' was in fact me! I'm actually doing a project for one of my classes on nudism. Sorry if my presence was a damper on your day, but I think you're wrong about how I made my interviewees feel. The couple I sat with for a while agreed to give me an interview. Yes I talked with them for a while, because we we having a nice conversation. I also later joined them for a nice swim...... I guess you missed that part. If you would like, share a story or experiance that I can add to my project. I have a thread on the new naturists section.

If that was you at the beach that day...you seemed really out of place. You were dressed all in white that day and stuck out like a sore thumb. The very fact that you were clothed made me even more suspicious.

There is a lot of jerks and weirdos who hang out at nude beaches. All have many crazy excuses for approaching couples and lone females, i.e. "I'm doing research for a class project." mmmmmm? Females getting bothered at nude beaches is one of the reasons why they do not become Naturist.

I'm highly suspicious of your motivations for your "clas project." The following reasons are:

                1. Beaches are the last place I would use to get an acturate picture of Naturism. NOT everyone there is a Naturist.

                2. I would never have the gall to approach/invade another person's space and start "asking" questions. I'm very big on respecting another people's privacy. Respecting another person is a core belief of Naturism.

                3. There are organizations who you could have contacted to get TRUE information on Naturism, i.e. "The Naturist Society" or "AANR."

What class is this for? From my understanding most of the Colleges have had finals and let out for the summer. I don't think your motivations are what you present them to be.

It's sad that I have to defend myself, but I guess that proves that there are some real jerks out there. Let me try to ease your nerves a little....
                  1. I go to Cal Poly Pomona, so we are not out until early June.
                  2. I was asking people, because that was the point of the project. It is on fieldwork.
                  3. I DO respect other people's privacy, thus the reason I only talked with those who were willing to give me an interview. I only encountered a total of three people who wouldn't let me ask them questions. Everyone else was very helpful, and much less defensive than you seem to be.
                  4. I came clothed because I had never been nude in public before. Also, I had talked with members of Black's Beach Bares and they were'nt sure if being nude would help or hurt my chances of getting interviews.

Because my project is based on the folk-themes of maturism, it is really interesting that you hold such strong reservations.

Were you one of the people that turned me down?

                    Bob,

I am glad that you did talk with the Black's Beach Bares. I am sure that Lloyd and Dave helped you out quite a bit. On the positive side, that group does make a tremedous difference on the beach as it is a safe and friendly group that always welcomes newcomers and keeps them safe from the weirdos and pervs who seem to constantly troll up and down the beach looking for women to bother. As others have said, the beach is only part of the nudist story. If you want much more information, then please consider going to a club such as Glen Eden where there will be many friendly people who will be more then happy to help.

I don't know, maybe its just me but I still get the impression that we (Naturist/Nudists) are all a bunch of test subjects to you and that you have no personal interest in Naturism yourself. Just good fodder for a college paper.

We are not lab specimens nor freaks who reside on the fringe of society in need of study or examination. I (and I can only speak for myself) am someone who has 'chosen' to seek a clothes free lifestyle. Not for others, but for myself.

If you really want to know what makes a Nudist "tick" then your missing the point. We are Doctors, Construction Workers, Housewives, Police Officers, Firemen, Teachers, Students, and in other words just regular every day people. There is no deep secret "why" we have chosen this way of life. Do you think tribes in Africa and South America sit around the camp fire and think "gee why are we naked?"

                      It's just natural!!!!!!

An equally valid subject would be to study why natural people switched to wearing unnatural clothes... oh, that's probably already been done about 2 million seventy-teen times I bet!

Right here you assumed that he was bothering the couple and thats on you bro. Seriously, don't leave it up to yourself to speak for the entire beach or "nudist" population. If the couple had a problem with Bob talking to them they could've told him themselves for him to leave them alone. I'm not going to question Bob's motive to interview people at a nude beach. I really don't care.

Once when a friend and I were sitting on Haulover Beach nude, an old man (fully clothed) came up to us and asked to borrow some time in one of our chairs as he was very tired. As we sat and talked, we found him to be fascinating. He had invented a way to take 3-D photos which were breathtaking in their clarity. He shared many of them with us and we chatted about nudism in general and the history of Haulover Beach. Then he bid us farewell and walked on down the beach not stopping to talk to anyone of the other hundreds of people there. It was a unique and memorable experience. I was only too happy to talk to him and share with him our reasons for loving nudism! g1212, I think you are looking for a boogie man under the bed here. Most "true naturists" are friendly people who assume the best about someone until demonstrated otherwise. Your attitude seems to be the opposite. Maybe time for some self reflection, dude?

Florida Cracker, your right....I'm judging So_Cal Bob too harshly, just like how textiles judge us.

But there would be a better venue for So_Cal Bob to research Nudism than beaches. He could contact the Naturist Education Foundation (NEF) for better creditible information.

And with that I apologize for my statement.
