  • was a nudist and didn't know it

Hey all, am new here but not to nudism. Didn't realize that I was a nudist. At least by everyones standards here. Have always slept nude, at least since out of high school. Am always nude around the house. Have never tried social nudism, but is on my list. Have learned a few things since checking this forum out. It is so nice to see so many nudists around. Going to have to check out the local clubs. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the realisation, you'd be suprised how many people there are like you, but refuse to accept that they too are nudists.

Enjoying life without clothes doesn't really need a name, indeed it is the name that puts many people off the idea.

You are obviously happy with your body, so the next step is social nudism, and good luck with that next step, which seems to be a huge step when viewed from where you are, but once you've taken the step you'll realise that its not so big after all. The most common thing you hear from people who have taken that step is, "Why didn't I do that sooner".

One option is to go to Hippie Hollow right outside of Austin. It is a sanctioned clothing optional beach in the state park there. The cost for a day visit is very reasonable and will get you into social nudity.

There are also two or three clubs in the Dallas area. I have been to the Wildwood Resort near Decatur, and enjoyed it very much. The people were quite friendly, and their facilities are nice, though not expansive. Ponderosa Resort near Wills Point also looks to be a pretty nice place, but I have not been there.

Call ahead if you decide to visit one of the resorts, and make arrangements to visit.

        Also, see my p.m.

First of all welcome! My wife and I had the same experiencs as you, it is quite commen for people to enjoy nudity around the home etc. We did that for years and then met others like us and it opened up a great new world. When you do get out there and meet others in person, you will quickly make some of the best friends you will ever have.

Have fun...and get out there, you won't regret it, and you will kick yourself in the a.. for not doing it sooner.

          Again welcome

And that's not just a cliche, either. Truer words were never spoken, and it's one of the very best things about social nudism.

First of all, welcome and enjoy your stay, and feel free to post anytime. You are right. There are alot of 'nudists' that don't 'advertise' to others. There are those who are nude pretty much when at home, but are reluctant to reveal their lifestyle to others.

I agree, the nudist community has a lot of great people and very friendly. I only wished I could have done this 'nude thing' years ago.

I know this post is a little old, but I thought that I would jump in...

I've been a closet nudist for quite some time and always wanted to visit a nude beach. Then during a business trip, I visited Paradise Lakes in Florida and discovered how great being nude with other people is. I related my experience with my wife and she quickly embraced social nudism as well. We have now been "official" nudists for about 4 years now since joining Mountain Air Ranch in Colorado. We have so many wonderful nudist friends that they far outnumber our textile friends. We are now starting to be more open about our nudism by telling our neighbors, friends and co-workers. Hopefully they will join us soon.

I've come to realise that I've always been a nudist, I've always enjoyed being without clothes, but it's only in the last 7 years that I've admitted to myself that I am a NUDIST. Can't get enough of it now!

I think the vast majority of us are like that, I used to enjoy skinny dipping right up to my twenties, then I got married and put an end to that. I enjoyed the naked state at home, but again never even considered the notion that I was a nudist, it was only later in life, and freedom from the tyranny of marriage, that I even thought of expanding my naked moments into the social aspect that a lot of us now experience.

In fact there are many, many people who enjoy naked moments, but would feel insulted if you called them nudists, but thats more to do with social conditioning and the ridicule that is heaped on our lifestyle by the unknowing.

I was essentially a nudist since 15, but didn't call myself one until maybe my late 20's. My girlfriend is nude at home more than me now (90% of the time, rather than the 80% of the time that I am), and she is starting to expound the virtues of nudity... yet she is still in denial, refusing to admit she is a nudist. Soemday she'll get over that hang-up :-)

I started the same way. Been running around nude as long as I can remember but never knew there was a name for it.

I would suggest starting with a nice controlled atmosphere like a resort. I found there were too many non-nudists at the beach just there to get an eye full.

the term "nudism" was one i didn't have a problem with in writing, but one that took a lot of courage to say aloud.

in the beginning, i found it difficult to talk to my wife about nudism (it still is a little bit but, as the beatles sang, "a little better all the time"), which caused some strife. when i would shy away from nudism in conversation, and when i would try to only get on nudist websites when she wasn't nearby, she would understandably think i was hiding something from her. one night, we had a serious conversation about my interest in nudism, but i still danced around the term. eventually, she asked me what "it" and "this" referred to. since that night, things have been much easier between the two of us. though she still doesn't want to disrobe, she's at least OK with me and others doing it.

I think it might start when sleeping nude and realize that you prefer to be naked than clothed in bed and that starts you thinking, If you are like me that thinking takes 40 years before stepping out of closet but at least it is the first step. I dont think that for all those years I considered myself a nudist but now I know I was
