The revised version of Melba Levick and Stanley Young's "Beautiful Spas and Hot Springs of California" just came out last April.

I don't know it thie above references list these but two places to check out are:
Benton Hot Springs http://www.395.com/oldhouse/ (and other sites, check Google)- Here you will find a Bed and Breakfast type accommodations with outdoor shared, clothing optional tubs, and (my favorite) campsites, each with their own tub. Campground is CO.
Surprise Valley Spa - Cedarville http://www.svhotsprings.com/index.html
A motel-like spa where each room has its own private patio and hot tub. Spa is not CO, but unless you want a massage, why leave the room- each has a kitchenette, etc.
