  • You want to meet new naturist friends?

I have seen and made many posts here in an effort to meet new naturist friends. While there are tons of naturist folks on this site, I have only had the pleasure of conversing with just a few. Well, I have determined that one way to meet new people is to promote the lifestyle.

I feel that we must seek our new friends from the textiles. We have to promote the positive aspects of our lifestyle and I'm sure that there will be some of them willing to try. Therefore I have set a goal to at least discuss the lifestyle with 5 people before the 4th of July. I may have to weed thru a couple of dozen first, but I am determined to help our community grow.

My challenge to you is to make the same commitment. I am posting this here and elswhere because I feel that it is up to us as individuals to spread the word and promote the lifestyle. So let's "Git 'er Done!"

I may sound like a broken record here -- but no, the best way to meet new people , or people in here, is not to chat things up on the Internet, or open up yet another website.

The best way to meet new people is to go to a nudist event in your area and get off of the keyboard for a spell. Contact a group or club/resort near you, and make arrangements to go.

Go out and enjoy a nudist event for a day or a weekend. My wife is always preaching to me, "get off that computer, I wanna go to camp."

There are already a number of websites to get event info. You have this one , probably the best and most lively discussion forum on the 'net. If you are looking for places to go, you can always look at "Clubs" on http://www.aanr.com and "Naturist Network" on http://www.naturistsociety.com.

I have an enormous number of nudist friends. I've been in social nudism, along with my wife, for around 28 years now.

We belong to a landed group (Cedar Waters), three non-landeds (Sherwood Forest Club, Maine Coast Solar Bares, Naturist New Hampshire) and a fourth semi-organized group that holds events. Sunday, we will be going to a club event that Maine Coast is holding where there will be around 40-50 people. Every summer, we take a naturist week and attend the Eastern Gathering in Lenox, Massachusetts. Every November, we go down to Florida and spend a week at Cypress Cove.

Oh yeah, just two weeks ago, mrs lurk and I went to Florida, for a non-nudist vacation (spring training/spring break -- for those who are outside North America, spring training is held in March, in the states of Florida and Arizona, and it's where baseball teams prepare for the upcoming season. While we didn't have any "nude time", we did get together with another nudist couple for a day, who are dear friends of ours who now live in Florida.

Yes, it's an accident of geography, where we can get to these events, but on the other hand, I have stated for YEARS -- the Internet is a great place for finding information about nudist venues, events, and gatherings. Conversely, it's not necessarily a place to meet people.

Nudists/naturists are a little more cautious as to who they let into their homes, who they socialize with , etc. even who they let have their phone numbers, and so people don't generally arrange meetups via the 'web.

They DO, however, convene, socialize, and get out and have a good time.

So -- if you're in Carolina

      - It's springtime down there, and the weather's warm
      - If you haven't checked the AANR.com and naturistsociety.com sites, you should. Those orgs have groups affiliated with them, and those groups have EVENTS and VENUES.
      - GET OUT, GO TO AN EVENT.

As I have said in other posts, most have a great time. You'll play sports or games if you wish. You'll relax. You'll socialize. You'll laugh, cry, joke, dine, hike, dance, swim, but most of all, you'll meet some cool folks. You will expand your social circle and expand your life.

Or -- you can stay on the keyboard and post here ad infinitum.

Me, I'm going to an event this weekend, another one later in the month, and come May our park will be reopening for the season. Come June, I have the Eastern gathering to go to. In August, the Eastern Canada gathering. On weekends, I'll be at Cedar Waters. During the summer, we will undoubtedly host a few cookouts here with our nudist and non-nudist friends.

SO -- you got on the 'net. You obtained information.

My advice - again - and again - and again

IF YOU WANT TO MEET OTHER CLOTHES-FREE ENTHUSIASTS, YOU MUST PICK UP THE PHONE, CALL A CLUB, AND GET OUT AND GO.

A final note. You might say "eww, yeah, but, I , um, am shy, uh, I don't know what to do."

We call club/event nudism SOCIAL nudism. It's not called social nudism for nothing. You MUST be able to pick up the phone, chat with a club leader/owner/etc., and get out and go to the club or gathering and hang out.

Most people can do that. But if someone CANNOT bring himself to doing that, then he should stay home, because it is a social situation, and he might not be ready for it if he cannot call a club, ask information, and make an appointment to get out there and enjoy a day.

It's harsh but I will be blunt -- but if a person can't make a phone call and reserve time to get out there and enjoy the nudist life for a day -- maybe he/she doesn't belong in our wonderful world of social nudism.

        Lurk

I am not sure but I think you missed the point of NC Guy...He is trying to promote the lifestyle in the real world.

I think this is a fantastic challenge. He is saying get out there and tell five people about naturism....friends,family, or who ever...

As far as what you posted about getting out there, into the world. I could not agree more. Sitting at home in front of your computer is not naturism, and it certainly is not social

Well, I viewed it as a twofold post.

            /*********** RETRACTION ****************

I was challenged by another member of this board, privately, to peruse the site.

YES, it's very good, so -- it's a very beneficial site.

And I'm happy to say, I stand (seriously) corrected... it's pretty good, and it needs more content, but it looks like, as of this viewing, it's in the right direction.

            **************************************/

Someone then came into the thread from Vancouver -- looking to chat -- which is good. But you'll note -- GET UP AND GET OUT TO ACTIVITIES is the best message that can be given to anyone coming in here.

              Thanks ercNY,

The challenge is to promote the lifestyle to textiles. If they are not interested themselves, then at least they will learn the positive aspects of our lifestyle. Also, by educating these people, we can fight off non-nudity laws and maybe open up more beaches, camps, and resorts.

Today, a guy asked us about a nudist motorcycle club I am starting. Well, before I could say anything, my wife opened up and educated him about our goals and mission. She got a positive response and I believe this guy - a textile aquaintence of ours - may want to try it. (Wife - 1, me - 0)
