  • Anyone from Long Island?

I just moved to Suffolk County from New Jersey. I'm 25 and looking to meet some new people and wanted to see if anyone was in the area. Hopefully I will be going to the indoor swim in March.

Hi njbrian, Hopefully you are aware of the colthing optional beach by the Fire Island Lighthouse. It's still too cold to go there now but by mid to late May the weather should be good. Take the Robert Moses Causway south to Robert Moses State Park. Look for signs for parking field 5 and head to the east end of the field. You can either walk down to the beach and head east or walk on the boardwalk through the dunes until you come to the dirt road. Follow the dirt road to the first cut through on your right. There are no lifeguards and sometimes the water can be rough so be careful. There are no restrooms immediately accessable but you can use the facilities at the Lighthouse. The beach is patrolled by Park Rangers but they never hassle anyone. There are also restrooms at the ranger station just east of the lighthouse. The beach gets a great turnout. I'm surprissed no one has responded to your message before this. Maybe I will see you there this summer.

I'm on Suffolk's south shore, Blue Point. I usually go to Lighthouse beach. Are there any nude beaches in eastern Suffolk?

From central Nassau County here. Also go to Lighthouse Beach during the warmer months.

I was at Lighthouse Beach this past Monday when it was an unusual 84 deg. in NYC. It was hardly that at the beach, but many of us sat up in the gullies created by the beach erosion from the severe storm the previous week. The "nesting bird" signs were completely gone, and so were the birds. They obviously had the good sense to clear out when they sensed the approaching storm.

I'd say there were a couple of hundred people there on Mon. Obviously a lot of folks not old enough for retirement were playing hookey. :-)

Oh, there were no "nesting nudist" signs either.
The signs indicating where the "clothing optional" areas started and ended were also casualties of the storm. Those signs between the first and second cuts were nowhere to be found, so no one bothered wrapping up between them.

I live in Queens and want to go to Sandy Hook this summer. I have been nude at Jones Beach.
