      Hi nakedone,

Welcome to the forum. We have a few here from the UK--including one who wouldn't dream of being nude in front of others, and goes into a panic if he sees a nude woman.

So get nude and join in the fun.

That would be a textile named......um.............Stu. Just a friendly warning, unless you want a heated debate about nudism with him then dont say anything to him. Hes just here as a challenge, nothing more. If you like that then by all means go ahead, I love taking a good challenge when it walks up to me but I just thought i might save you the throuble and the flaming youll probably get.

Actually, Stu never "flames" anyone. He's intelligent and polite in his manner. He's just totally against anyone being seen nude in public, and doesn't think children should see nude adults.

How old are you? If you are under 30 you could join Young British Naturists "YBN" for short.

              Hi nakedone,
I live in Western Australia, but I came here from Yorkshire in 1962.
My second wife, who I met in Australia, was from Baycliff, in Cumbria, between Barrow-in-Furness and Ulverston.
Kathy was a wonderful lady, but I sadly lost her 20 months ago.
We went back together in 1983, to meet one another's families.
1983 was one of those great English summers, when it was hot and sunny, week after week.
Kathy had sent her parents a photo of us and some friends taken at Perth's Swanbourne free beach. She had drawn bathers [swimwear] on everyone, out of consideration for her parents' feelings.
I said, do you think your parents will think that everyone wears blue biro coloured bathers?
When we got to her parents' place, her dad said, Go to the beach, your friends are there, waiting to see you.
When we got there, we found it had become the free beach for the area, and we were made very welcome.
It seems that a well respected Ulverston businessman, Billy Stables, had started swimming nude there and other like-minded people had followed suit.
Billy used to chisel stories from the area into a big flat rock on the beach and I believe that it is recorded that a girl who had left Baycliff many years before, came back with her boy-friend, Rex.
I have got on with my life, as Kathy wanted me to do, and I have a lovely girl-friend, but I am crying as I write this.
One lady, a non-nudist regular visitor to the area, told us that one of the strangest experiences of her life, was being in Baycliff in winter, walking on the beach, and being introduced to, and shaking hands with, a nude man, standing in the snow. Yes, Billy was a very unusual man.
I understand that Billy has been dead for a number of years and I don't know if the beach is still used by nudists.
We also went, with a couple who owned a business in Ulverston, to a nude swimming spot on Lake Coniston.
I think I have seen on a website, maybe the official British Naturists' site, a free beach on Walney Island and other places in NW England.
I hope you are successful in finding friends.

Yeah but alot of his ideas about being nude in public and how nudity affects children isnt really true or logical in any sense because you can usually find facts to the contrary and he seems to care more about how the public feels about nudity than weither its right or not as far as a person's human rights go, i mean because we shouldnt ban nudity just because the public doesnt "like" it. People have rights and we should respect them. Also its been proven by alot of experts that children being exposed to nudity is a great asset for them and I think stu is just looking at things from his experience and from a legal point of view and needs to see it in other ways too.

                      Mike,

I wasn't saying I agree with Stu in any way because I don't. I was just defending the fact that he is polite and respectful in his manner. I have more respect for a non-nudist who is polite and respectful in his manner than I ever would for a nudist who isn't.

Kindness and respect for others are very important virtues to have--at least in my humble opinion.

Yeah I never really disputed the fact that he wasnt kind or respectful. I just dont think his views really hold any water, thats all im saying. I mean he quotes all this "what if" stuff and I just think he should just let people be nude who wanna be nude in public and not worry about all the things that could "possibly" and most likely never will happen. I really dont think that the public is alarmed or shocked by nudity itself but they feel that way when they see it because they have a hard time distinguishing nudity from sex and or criminal activities and I think Stu has this problem too. He cannot distinguish simple innocent public nudity from some sort of criminal action. I dont really think alot of times the nudity actually alarms people, its more the action the person is taking while they are nude that causes such problems. I just think Stu should see this distinction.

As said above I would join YBN (Young British Naturists), they hold events all round the country and meet up at swims and stuff. We've been members for over a year and it's a great place to meet and drink with friends who happen to be naturist.

I realy want to get involved with the YBN but unfourtunatly it would meen going on my own! I dont know any other naturists my age. I know an older couple in my area but thats all. I even put an Ad in the Students Union bulliten board to find out if there were any others at Uni but no joy.
